In the latest episode of Global Humiliation, the EU has crawled back to Donald Trump, begging for a trade deal sprinkled with "respect." Oh, the audacity! Imagine Sefcovic, with his quivering lip, pleading for Trump to go easy on the tariffs. Clearly, he hasn't heard that Trump's idea of respect involves him dictating terms while his adversaries bow.
Now, the EU is prepared to "defend" its interests. What does that entail? A strongly worded letter? Perhaps they'll take away Trump's daily cheeseburger allowance. They should know by now that when Trump says he'll impose 50% tariffs, he's more likely to enforce it than follow through on his hair care routine.
It's adorable, really, how the EU believes in diplomacy when dealing with Trump. They're like a toddler throwing a tantrum for a toy, unaware that the real power play involves who can outlast the other in a game of economic chicken. Spoiler alert: it won't be the EU.
